Meet the qualitas leadership team
My name is Gavin Bailey and I’m the Director of Coaching at Qualitas. I first started playing football for a team at the age of 11 and after scoring 52 goals in my first season, I was signed by Derby County. After 2 years I was released and I came back home to play for AFC Dronfield, which was my happiest time in Sunday league football, winning many trophies.
At 13 I was then signed by Sheffield Wednesday and I stayed there until I was 20 years old representing the YTS/Reserve team and playing first team football. Also during this time I represented Chesterfield District/Derbyshire Schools and English schools. I also had spells playing professional football abroad in Finland and played first team football for MP, which again was a fantastic experience.
The highlight of my career was to play at Basle Switzerland for Sheffield Wednesday’s first team in the Inter Toto cup. I would say Trevor Francis was an inspiration as he was a great footballer and family man which I feel is important for today’s professional footballers.
My main aim is to help children development there football skills, teach them to respect others and hopefully give the same opportunities that I had as a child. Cede Nullis!
Senior Manager/Tupton & Sheffield Cluster Manager
I started at Qualitas in April 2013 and have worked up the ranks from Assistant coach to Senior Manager.
I previously played for Scunthorpe United from the age of 11 until 18, representing the youth team and reserve team for the Iron’s. Since then I achieved a First Class Honors in BSc Sports and Exercise Science from Sheffield Hallam University. I currently still play semi-professional football whilst coaching both in schools and at the scholarship sessions.
As Tupton and Sheffield Cluster manager I manage the coaches to make sure we are delivering a quality service in schools to cater for their needs. I am always looking for the next challenge and very proud of what Qualitas has achieved since my time at the business. I can’t wait to see where the future takes us.
Senior Manager/Eckington & Dronfield Cluster Manager
I first joined Qualitas Sport in February 2017 as the then U14/15 Head Coach, I rejoined Qualitas in a full time role after a brief spell working abroad in China as a football coach. My current role as a Senior Manager involves heading up the exciting new schools event programme, coaching within our schools, supporting the football Scholarship programme at all ages and mentoring current/new coaches within Qualitas.
After gaining a 1st Class Honours Degree at Sheffield Hallam University, studying BSc (Hons) Physical Education and School Sport, in 2015 I went on to complete my Postgraduate Certificate in Education. From this I managed to secure my first teaching post at All Saint’s Catholic Voluntary Academy as a Secondary School PE Teacher where I taught sport to Key Stage 3&4 pupils, this included the delivery of GCSE PE and BTEC sport.
I am a big fan of football and am currently completing my UEFA B football coaching qualification during the 18-19 season. I always try and improve my subject knowledge and push myself to be better. Alongside my role with Qualitas I am also the Assistant Manager at Barnsley Ladies FC who compete in the FA Women’s National League and Women’s FA Cup.
The opportunity to come to Qualitas in my new full time role is one I could not resist and I am looking forward to exciting times ahead with Gavin, Ash and the rest of the great Qualitas Coaching team.
